My PhD investigates biodiversity and ecological dynamics in temporary ponds across Poland, the Western Balkans, and Southern Italy. These unique habitats are shaped by environmental stressors such as temperature fluctuations and hydroperiod variability . Using environmental DNA (eDNA) , metatranscriptomics , and DNA barcoding , I study species composition, functional diversity, and ecosystem connectivity.
I am also developing a regional reference database to improve molecular identification and support biodiversity monitoring. This research aims to enhance understanding of how temporary pond communities respond to changing climatic and hydrological conditions.
